Bow Street Meets… The Ultimate Guide to Self-Taping

Here’s a fantastic video made by Dublin-based acting academy Bow Street. It’s a compilation video with tips from guests including Aidan Gillen, Jack Reynor, Ros Hubbard, Margery Simkin, Brendan Gleeson, Tusse Lande, Stephen Bridgewater and Richard E. Grant.

And of course if you want to practise and improve your own self-taping skills in a fun and practical environment don’t forget to check out our Acting Habit courses – they are going down a storm.

How To Set Up A Simple Home Self-Tape Studio

Our interactive online course is going extraordinarily well. There has been an abundance of creativity, passion and learning going on.

There has also been a tremendous amount of sharing when it comes to the technical side of self-taping – cameras, tripods, lighting, editing equipment and compression techniques have all been discussed and procedures refined.

One of the participants – James Chalmers – has very kindly shared his incredibly effective yet inexpensive set-up for his home self-tape studio. If you ever need to self-tape then this is five and a half minutes of essential viewing:

Here are links to a couple of pieces of kit he mentioned: Lapel Mic and the Gorilla Tripod.

Thank you so much for making this guide James!

BAFTAs 2015!

Good luck to Elaine Constantine at the BAFTAs this weekend – nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Director for NORTHERN SOUL. It’s a remarkable achievement given all the knock backs she and her producing partner Debbie Gray suffered while trying to make the film. You can read more about it here.

NSAnd good luck also to Rachel Tunnard and Michael Berliner – nominated for Best British Short for EMOTIONAL FUSEBOX. It’s a wonderful, touching, heart-warming film.
